This is one of my favorite units to date.  The kids were hooked and loved the whole thing.  They often reference ing words and my lowest disengaged students were engaged and can still recall how to spell and read ing words.   There are so plenty of activities to pull from to meet your student needs.  Here are some activities from the unit but not all.

This unit has a lot of NO Prep Short I activities but honestly as much as I want to do everything NO Prep I know one of the first steps in independence and self regulating is peer or partner work.  I did research for two years on self-regulating students and I know partner work is important.  I try to create a balance in my units to give you options to suit your student and teaching needs and style.  

 For word work or phonics activities, I followed the lessons with the activities below.  I just LoVe these activities.  Mostly because I have always used tree maps and circle maps and I wanted a way to introduce them to our kindergarten friends. The most important thing - they loved the activities and they were successful!  Plus my kiddos are in need of cutting practice so I can sneak it in this way.  You can click on the pictures or HERE to see what else is in the unit.  In the picture below the kids glue the short a (_at) word family words in the circle map then they have to make a list using the pictures.  They were so awesome at this! They loved the word searches in this unit just as much!
